The Personal Barber Subscription box January Feb 2020

Happy New Year! We hope you’ve had an absolutely fantastic holiday season.

We've got some big plans this year to help grow our shaving club to get as many people as possible able to experience the joy of a classic wet shave (and help them make huge reductions in their plastic footprint) so watch this space!

Even though we already offer the best value classic shaving kit on the market, we want to make the subscription simpler, more accessible, and more customisable so absolutely everyone can dive into single blade shaving and reap the benefits.

Regardless of how the subscription evolves, our main focus will never change: TPB is the wet shaving subscription box that wants to turn your daily chore into a satisfying experience to look forward to.

We passionately believe that shaving can be so much more than just removing stubble. By making the switch to a single blade razor, and taking a few minutes to learn the main points to the technique, you can achieve the smoothest, most satisfying, irritation-free shave of your life. So say goodbye to your polluting plastic cartridges and discover shaving the way it’s meant to be done.

Every 6 weeks, we curate a selection of high quality soaps, balms, creams and more, introducing you to the lesser known brands that you won’t see in the supermarkets.

Benefit from:

  • Warm scented lathers and effortlessly close shaves.
  • A shave that’s kinder on your skin. A single blade gives you control to eliminate irritation and say goodbye to shaving rash!
  • Artisan creams, post-shave balms, colognes and more. Every kit is different so you’re never bored.
  • A clean conscience, no more plastic cartridges. Our blades are 100% recyclable.

Pre-shave box – Post-shave box – Extra-care box

Our latest kit is the “Post-shave box” which will be going out to renewing subscribers between January 1st – February 15th 2020. On top of a new shaving cream and restock of blades, this kit always features a post-shave balm to calm the skin after shaving and promote the healing process so it feels comfortable all day long. We also usually showcase a solid cologne in this kit which we believe is one of the most exciting new products that every gentleman must try.

Join our men’s shaving club here before Feb 15th to get this kit (only whilst stocks last).

Suezbana Moringa and Citrus Shaving Cream RRP £7.95

Suezbana is a small independent brand from Essex that specialises in natural handmade beauty products for men and women. Utilising high quality ingredients without parabens or any other nasties, they make truly unique skincare items. We’ve featured their products a couple of times before and they always go down very well. This time we’ve gone for this beautifully refreshing Citrus and Moringa scented shaving cream. Only a small amount is needed as it produces a really thick and stable lather without any effort whatsoever so you can be sure of a really protective shave and softened hairs. Made with added vitamin E, a natural antioxidant that renews the skin and improves its appearance.

To use: Using a slightly damp brush, swirl it in the shaving cream until it is sufficiently covered and then work up your lather as normal either in a bowl, your hand or directly on your face. Leave the cream in the open air (with the lid off) to fully dry between uses

The Personal barber post shave balm by Dr Botanicals
Dr Botanicals Advanced Natural Moisturising Post-Shave Balm For Men RRP £30

Founded in 2012, the London based Dr Botanicals is a ‘clean’ & ‘natural’ skincare brand that uses the finest quality ingredients to create an extensive range of skincare products for men and women. Their post shave balm is designed to calm and soothe the skin immediately after shaving. Made with sweet almond oil and blue lotus flower, it works to prevent irritation and leave the skin hydrated post shave. Packed with botanical ingredients such as white tea, which is known to boost skin's elasticity and minimise the visible signs of ageing, leaving your skin soft, refreshed and younger looking. We liked the thin consistency of this balm that differentiates it from other balms we’ve featured in the past. Due to this, it’s very easily absorbed into the skin without leaving any greasy residue.

To use: Apply a few drops into your hand and gently massage into damp skin immediately after shaving. Be careful! It comes out quite fast.

Ingredients: Aqua, Butylene Glycol, Almond Oil PEG-8 Esters, Olive Oil PEG-7 Esters, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Water, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Alcohol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Palmaria Palmata (Red Algae) Extract, Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Panthenol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA, Dehydroacetic Acid, Parfum (Fragrance), Sambucus Nigra Flower Extract, Nymphaea Coerulea (Blue Lotus) Flower Extract, Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) Leaf Extract, Amaranthus Cordatus (Velvet Flower) Seed Extract, Benzyl Salicylate, Hexyl Cinnamal, Limonene, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Sorbic Acid.

The Personal barber featured solid cologne Viking scent from Solid Cologne Project
Solid Cologne Project Viking Solid Cologne RRP £13

The Solid Cologne Project is an an artisan fragrance brand from Aberdeen making high quality scents for men in our favourite form; the solid cologne! If you’ve not used a solid cologne before, it’s an alcohol-free and water-free form of aftershave that is incredibly portable and discreet to apply. You can easily carry it with you and reapply as needed, we suggest every 4 hours or so. It's one of our favourite products to feature, we tend to include one in every 3rd box.

This cologne has been made from a luxurious blend of Bees Wax, Shea Butter, Almond Oil & carefully chosen perfum, which means it won’t dry out your skin but in fact keep it moisturised as well as smelling great. All the scents in their range have been inspired by the Scottish landscape. The Viking scent is an intense aromatic woody fragrance opening with pepper, bergamot, lemon, lavender, juniper, cedar leaf and peppermint leading to a warm heart of clove and regal iris resting on a sophisticated base of amber, precious woods, tonka, moss and a hint of leather.Remember with fragrances that they develop over time and mix with your natural musk so don’t judge it directly from the tin. You’ll notice the depth of the cologne after it’s been on your skin for a few minutes.

To use: Gently rub your finger over the balm and then apply to your pulse points such as your wrist, neck and behind your ears. We use the pulse points because they heat up the cologne, making it last longer. Want a stronger scent? Use the back of your nail to scrape off a larger quantity. The more you use, the stronger it will be.

Ingredients: Prunus Dulcis Oil (Almond Oil), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Parfum, Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Limonene, Linalool, Eugenol, Coumarin, Citral, Geraniol, Citronellol, Cinnamyl alcohol

personna platinum chrome DE razor blades

Personna Platinum Chrome Replacement Blades RRP £2.95

This month we decided to feature a 10-pack of blades rather than the usual 2 packs of 5. This is because there are lots of great razor blades out there that only come in packs of 10 and we’d hate for you to miss out on them!

The Platinum Chromes (sometimes referred to as “Israeli Reds”) are often touted as their best blade as it has a relatively sharp edge but is known for giving a comfortable smooth finish. Each blade will last a minimum of 3 shaves for even the toughest beard before you notice a drop in performance. Lighter beards will be able to get closer to 7 shaves per blade.
