Wet Shaving Kit The Personal Barber

Happy New Year! After a very successful 2018 of teaching thousands of men how to have a satisfying wet shave and benefit from less irritation, we’ve got a lot planned for the coming year.

First update: Last month we added a new frequency option to the subscription so if you don't shave that often (once or twice a week) and don't need a restock of shaving supplies every 6 weeks, you can now get a box every 12 weeks instead.

A quick overview of The Personal Barber if you're new: We're a classic wet shaving subscription service that send outs a curated selection of artisan wet shaving products direct to your door, when you need them. Never run out of blades or shaving cream again. Supplies arrive every 6 or 12 weeks.

But our main focus is turning our subscribers’ daily chore into a satisfying experience to look forward to. Using a single blade razor doesn't just help eliminate irritation such as razor burn, rash or bumps (making it perfect for those with sensitive skin), but it's incredibly satisfying to use. The ritual of whipping up your own scented lather and deftly removing stubble in one pass of the razor is an enjoyable ritual that sets you up for the day.

If you’ve never used a classic safety razor or brush before, we’ll include one for free in your first box so you can discover just what you’ve been missing. Each kit follows a theme starting with shaving soap/cream, 10 DE blades and 2 mystery items that are always different and are drawn from a wide range of products by top quality brands from around the world.

Pre-shave box – Post-shave box – Extra-care box

This month’s kit is the “Extra-care box” which features both a post-shave moisturiser to keep your skin fully hydrated and young looking as well as a pre-shave scrub that helps to smooth the area ready to be shaved. For the full description of everything in this month’s kit, check them out below:

Wet Shaving Soap Clubman Pinaud

Clubman Pinaud Shave Soap

Clubman Pinaud (pronounced Pee-No) are a brand with a history that goes all the way back to 1810 when their first shop opened in Paris with an extensive selection of fine fragrances. By the early 1900's the brand had moved to the USA where its popularity really took off and it’s best known as a classic neighbourhood barbershop staple with legions of fans. Although they’re probably famous for their fragrances and aftershaves, we find this soap to have a very mild scent. But it more than makes up for this with an incredibly rich and moisturising lather that conditions the skin by helping to lock in moisture so you’re left feeling smooth and refreshed.

To use: Load a slightly damp brush (not dripping) on the soap by swirling for a few seconds, and then build your lather as normal in your hand or a bowl, adding a bit of water at a time to achieve the desired consistency.

Men's face moisturiser Man Polish

Man Polish Neutral Everyday Face Moisturiser

Man Polish are an exciting new male grooming brand from Manchester looking to empower the modern gentleman to embrace a daily grooming routine which makes him look and feel tip-top. We were blown away by the quality of this fantastic moisturiser. It’s easily absorbed into the skin without leaving any greasy residue and we’ve been lucky enough to feature their new ginger and mandarin scented version which smells incredible. Made with natural ingredients such as shea butter, jojoba oil and argan oil to properly hydrate the skin leaving it looking healthier and younger for longer. It also includes added vitamins B5, B6, C and E which work toward improving skin tone as well as having anti aging and anti-wrinkle properties.

We've featured their neutral moisturiser which is a premium untinted product that will suit anyone’s grooming routine. However they also have two other tinted moisturisers in their range that smooths blemishes and gives your skin an overall healthy tanned look (without looking orange). We didn't feature these in the subscription because we knew not everyone would want to use a tinted moisturiser, but they're well worth checking out.

To Use: After you’ve applied a post-shave balm and let it sink in for a minute, take a small dollop of moisturiser and apply in small circular motions to slightly damp skin. Less is more. By applying it to slightly damp skin you can ensure your moisturiser goes a long way and isn't wasted.

Revitalising Facial Scrub Sukin

Sukin Revitalising Facial Scrub

We’re very pleased to introduce Sukin, a skincare brand from Australia that not only creates wonderful products, but has some of the most impressive brand values we’ve ever come across. Their entire line of products are naturally derived (no parabens, synthetics, sulphates etc), cruelty free and vegan. And to top it off they’re formulations are carbon neutral, biodegradable and grey water safe! This revitalising face scrub is perfect pre-shave as the gentle particles of bamboo extract and walnut shell powder lift up hairs and leave a smooth surface for your razor to glide along. Aloe vera and chamomile work together to soothe the skin whilst jojoba, sesame and rosehip oils lightly hydrate your complexion to leave it feeling clean and smooth.

To use: Before shaving, wet your face (or use in the shower) and gently massage a small dollop into your stubble using your fingertips. Rinse off before adding your lather.

Feather High-Stainless Blades

VERY SHARP! Feather are a brand from Japan that are widely regarded as the sharpest in the world. Be careful using these blades and if you’re new to the subscription or still learning the technique for the razor, practice with the Supermax blades first. If your technique isn't up to scratch you're just going to end up with razor burn. These blades are platinum coated for added longevity. Each blade lasts 3-7 shaves.

Supermax Super Platinum Blades

Manufactured in India, SuperMax are a brand of blades lauded by wet shaving enthusiasts. Their Super Platinums are the sharpest blade in the range but manage to still give a smooth finish, making them ideal for most skin types. They differ from other blades in their range by the materials used and the combination of coatings to allow the blade to easily glide over the skin. This is a superior blade with great longevity. Lasts between 4-8 shaves depending on beard thickness.
