What is The Personal Barber Shaving Club?
The Personal Barber is the curated shaving subscription that wants to turn your daily chore into a satisfying experience to look forward to.
We passionately believe that making the switch to a single-blade razor will change your whole outlook on shaving. Our latest kit in the Discovery Box subscription is the “Pre-shave box” which will be going out to renewing subscribers between October 1st - November 15th.
With this kit we usually feature a product such as a pre-shave oil, designed to prep your beard before you slap a lather on and start shaving. We also include an extra product that’s more long-lasting and tend to feature less than once a year, so it’s quite the exclusive box!
We also have a smaller sized box, called the Essentials box, that features just the latest picked shaving soap/cream and a restock of 10 DE razor blades. This is for members that want to try new soaps and creams but would rather pick their own extra products. You can add any additional items to your Essentials Box without incurring extra postage fees.

Celestial Aromatix May Chang Shaving Soap RRP £9.95 (Discovery and Essentials Box)
Celestial Aromatix, based in Devon, is a luxury artisan soap-maker that focuses on a range of beautifully scented products using the purest ingredients possible. Each item has been lovingly handmade as part of a small batch process, including this month's shaving soap which was made exclusively for The Personal Barber club members.
It creates a bountiful lather that noticeably softens the hairs and offers excellent glide. Made with rich shea butter that gives it a comfortable finish and leaves a soft as silk post-shave feeling.
The May Chang is an intense fragrance that instantly hits you with a scent reminiscent of lemongrass with fruitier undertones, upon opening the tin. As it’s a rinse-off product, the scent won’t last long afterwards or interfere with your choice of aftershave.
To use: It’s a hard soap so takes a little bit longer to load. Work a slightly damp brush (not dripping) on top of the soap for 15-20 seconds until there’s plenty loaded onto the tips of the hairs. Then, build your lather separately in a bowl or in your hand until you have a thick and creamy lather. This soap isn’t thirsty, we found it performs best with less water than you might be used to.

Tailored Soap Bonsai Pre-Shave Oil RRP £18 (Discovery Box only)
Tailored Soap started out as a soap making brand back in 2013 but has since expanded into a diverse range of skincare products to suit everyone. Run by a wife and husband team from their studio in Stavanger, Norway, where they do everything themselves. Their passion for their craft has won them international recognition from numerous publications as well as millions of views on Youtube and an entrepreneur of the year award.
We’re excited to be featuring their Bonsai pre-shave oil which has been made with a premium blend of ingredients to ensure you get the closest most comfortable shave imaginable whilst helping the skin to retain its natural moisture. The Bonsai fragrance is a fresh and light scent with green top notes and a woodsy base.
Including a pre-shave oil in your routine is a great way to ensure you have an irritation-free shave every time, particularly if you have sensitive skin that’s prone to irritation. It creates an extra barrier underneath your shaving lather as well as moisturises the skin.
To use: To use: Take a pump of oil and massage it into your hairs. Leave for a full minute whilst you build up your shaving soap lather and then apply that directly on top. Less is more with pre-shave oils. If your skin feels greasy after shaving, you’ve used too much!

Lunar Glow Brightening Under Eye Serum RRP £12 (Discovery Box only)
Lunar Glow are a skincare brand from Norwich that focus on vegan-friendly products using natural formulations that are 100% cruelty-free.
Their under-eye serum is rich in probiotics, green tea, caffeine and pomegranate and it contains patented natural-technology designed to help treat noticeable signs of aging. Wrinkles, puffiness and dark circles are tackled by tightening and lifting of the delicate eye area. Suitable for all skin types.
With more and more men discovering the huge benefits that a little eye serum can bring to their appearance, we thought it was a great opportunity to test it out in the kit. After all, the eyes are the window to the soul!
We particularly loved the ease of the roller ball applicator, it takes only seconds to apply.
To use: Run the serum underneath your eyes morning and evening after cleansing.

Astra Green and Gillette Platinum Replacement Blades
These Gillette Platinums, made in St Petersburg, Russia, are well known as being one of the smoothest shaves in the Gillette line and with great longevity.
They were discontinued in the past and this looks to be a new model they have brought out. There is some debate as to whether or not these are the same blades as the discontinued line or not. Whatever the case, they give a fantastic shave. Each blade lasts 3-7 shaves depending on beard thickness with most getting an average of 5.
The Astra Superior Platinums are a favourite amongst wet shavers. Originally made in the Czech Republic, production was moved to Russia once the company was bought by Gillette. Known colloquially as the Astra “Greens”, they are a medium sharpness blade that gives a smooth and comfortable shave for most beard types. Lasts 3-6 shaves per blade.
